This is an impressive example of the Epiphone Crestwood Custom, which was the second version of Gibson's "SG Standard" equivalent. From 1960 to late 1963, Epiphone solid-body guitars were manufactured with symmetrical double cutaway bodies and a Gibson-style 3-on-3 headstock. These Epiphone solid-body guitars are rare as they never achieved the same level of prestige or professional acceptance as their Gibson counterparts, despite being produced in the same factory.

This particular Crestwood Custom was produced in 1962 and features the same cherry finish on both the body and neck as the more common SG model. All hardware is nickel-plated and includes two PAF mini-humbucking pickups, an early no-wire ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge, and a long Epiphone Trem-O-Tone vibrato with a rosewood block insert. The pickguard is an unusual "half-clear" design with a shaded center and an Epiphone "E" logo. The knobs, switch, and Kluson tuners are identical to those found on the Gibson-branded SG.
The unbound rosewood fingerboard boasts unique oval pearloid inlays that are specific to this model. The neck has a relatively flat profile typical of 1961, but it is a bit thicker than some. At the time, this was the top-of-the-line Epiphone solid-body guitar, as the fancier three-pickup Crestwood Deluxe had not yet been introduced. This guitar is exceptionally lightweight, comfortable, and has an impressive, hot-sounding tone that is particularly snarly when the volume is turned up.
This guitar is all original throughout and comes with a period correct chipboard case or the option of a hiscox flight case.
